Chelsea to win - 21/20

Chelsea have been finding their rhythm under manager Mauricio Pochettino of late and they produced a ruthless performance to thrash Middlesbrough 6-1 in the second leg of their EFL Cup semi-final on Tuesday, sending the Premier League outfit into the final at Wembley.

The Blues have won five of their last six matches in all competitions, the only blemish being that first-leg defeat at the Riverside, while they have racked up seven straight victories at Stamford Bridge.

You have to go back to 28th October for the last time Pochettino’s men tasted defeat at home, a 2-0 loss to Brentford, and the consistency Chelsea were missing at the start of the campaign has arrived in spades now.

Friday’s fixture won’t be an easy one for the Blues, who take on a Villa side that beat them at Stamford Bridge in the league in September and have lost just one of their last 14 assignments.

However, the Villans have never been great travellers in the FA Cup and the 1-0 win at Middlesbrough in the third round was their first away success in this competition since January 2012.

With Unai Emery’s side firmly in the Premier League title race, you can argue they have bigger fish to fry than the FA Cup, while they also have a Europa Conference League last-16 tie to negotiate in March.

Chelsea’s eyes are on the cup competitions this season, highlighted after they made the EFL Cup final, and they can take a further step in the FA Cup by sending Villa packing.

Coventry to win - 6/5

Sheffield Wednesday are in relegation trouble in the Championship, as they sit 23rd in the table and five points from safety, and it’s fair to say the FA Cup is not high up on their list of priorities.

It’s unclear how strong a side Danny Rohl will put out for Friday’s visit of Coventry, but even the best starting XI for the Owls is unlikely to be enough to see off the visitors.

Wednesday hosted the Sky Blues last time out and it was Mark Robins’ side who clinched all three points at Hillsborough, winning 2-1 to extend their unbeaten streak to 10 matches.

Coventry haven’t tasted defeat on the road in their last four outings, drawing 1-1 at Leeds before racking up victories over Sunderland, Middlesbrough and the Owls.

This looks like a prime opportunity for the Sky Blues to move into the fifth round of the FA Cup for the first time since the 2017/18 campaign.
